The following are editorial photography projects that showcase my photojournalist and storytelling style.
Lines for Life
Lines for Life is a regional non-profit dedicated to preventing substance abuse and suicide. Many people don’t know about Lines for Life—or that they have a Veterans Outreach program. There is a dedicated team of staff and volunteers that are Veterans themselves, and they are standing by phones 24/7, committed to providing support for other Veterans in need.
Lines for Life's Communications Director asked me to create a photoshoot in their Portland office that would showcase their Veteran employees and volunteers at work. She needed imagery for their Veteran outreach collateral in order to better inform the community of their services. Together we designed a photoshoot that incorporated candids, staged candids, and staffs’ personal Veteran memorabilia and support animals.
Boy, I sure do feel lucky. I was contracted by Girl Scouts of the USA to photograph their Astronomy Adventure Destination at Pine Mountain Observatory for two days and two nights. The ten Girl Scouts on the trip were from all over the country; and they were all so intelligent, kind and curious. During the day they did activities to learn about physics and astronomy, and in the evening they viewed stars, planets and galaxies through an array of telescopes. I can’t emphasis enough how cool it was to document this adventure, and to be able to observe outer space at PMO.
