LSW Architects

Challenge

LSW Architects requested a repeatable service that could establish and maintain a conceptual anchor throughout the duration of their architecture design and development project life cycles.

Outcomes

We created a service that was coined “Storyform”. It documents the contextual foundation of a project and develops a conceptual story that brings all project stakeholders together with a unified vision. The very first Storyform resulted in a positive influence on the collaboration between architecture and development teams which led to more work won for everyone. Based on that success, LSW Architects decided to incorporate Storyform into all of their projects. See this first Storyform project below.

Project Question

How can the sense of place be maintained when a hobby farm that has been serving a community for generations retires into a development for multi-family housing?

Project Site Documentation

Project Hypothesis

By translating the significance of Joe’s Place into the identity of the new development, through architecture and brand design, this development can honor a community treasure by allowing it to shape the next chapter.

Project Narrative

This is about a family legacy and a relationship with the land. It’s about commitment: seeing potential in the gravelly soil and having the patience to work at it, everyday. This is the story of transformation, how a tree-lined ridge became fields of crops and a familiar place to gather.

Joe’s Farm has been the love of his life and his home. And he has shared it all with the community. For decades, it has been a gateway to a timeless place, where the goal has always been enriching lives.

As Joe and his farm begin a new season, our vision for this project is to expand on his legacy. This is about continuing a story, translating its emotional core through design. It’s about creating homes that welcome people inside and maintaining a sense of place that resonates with the community.
